A rolling hangar door, also called a sliding hangar door, is built from one or more panels that ride along a bottom track, moving unidirectionally, bi-parting, or as a floating group. Because the door rolls rather than swings or lifts, it can be specified to almost limitless widths and up to 90' tall, powered by an electric operator, and opened in full or in part to match the aircraft or equipment inside. How They Operate

Powered by Hercul-Eze® operators

 WELL BILT Industries offers a patented rolling door operator adaptable to either in-the-door or out-of-door installation. Most rolling door systems can be furnished or retrofitted with an electric operator.

Operator placement is matched to your door configuration: one Hercul-Eze® operator on the leading edge panel for Unidirectional doors, two operators on the leading edges of each side for Bi-Parting doors, or two operators on the first and last panels for Floating Group doors. Pick-up bars let multiple sections open or close from a single operator.

Technical specifications

Hot rolled structural steel shapes conform to ASTM A36, minimum yield 36,000 psi, tensile strength 58,000 to 80,000 psi. Cold formed shapes (cee’s, zee’s, channels) conform to ASTM A570 Grade 55, minimum yield 57,000 psi. Welded mechanical tubing conforms to ASTM A-500 Grade B, minimum yield 46,000 psi, typical tensile strength 58,000 psi. Mechanical fasteners are ASTM A-325 or SAE Grade 5; anchor bolts or threaded rod are ASTM A-307 or equivalent.

Patented rolling door operator, adaptable to in-the-door or out-of-door installation. Top guide options are fixed (accommodates up to 3″ of total vertical deflection) or telescoping (used when deflection exceeds 3″ or positive top-guide engagement is needed for wind uplift). Both use sealed ball bearings for guide and carrier rollers. Lateral supports for the top guide beam are spaced 8′ to 10′ apart, supplied by others.

All bottom rollers use re-lubeable anti-friction bearings. Smaller doors use vee-groove rollers with caged needle bearings on inverted angle track; larger doors use tapered roller bearings on rail track systems. All roller systems are serviceable without removing the door section from the track.

Pick-up bars are welded or bolted to the leading and trailing edges of power-operated door sections, so multiple sections can open or close from one operator. Standard personal door framing is 30″ by 78″ (3078), with wind-load rated 36″ by 80″ framing available. A limit switch ensures the door cannot operate unless securely closed. Lock sets and wind chains are the responsibility of others.

Bottom and side EPDM Style 40 weather seals with galvanized retainer strips provide all-weather protection. EPDM resists ozone, steam, water, oxygenated solvents, and animal and vegetable oils. Doors comply with all codes and specifications in place at time of order. Wind-load compliance certification by a Florida-licensed PE is available. Well Bilt is a Miami-Dade County Approved Hangar Door Manufacturer with a Certificate of Competency.

Except for small sections shipped in one piece, doors are fabricated in sections for easy shipping and bolted at the job site to clips welded to the vertical members. Each system includes drawings, cut sheets, job site prep instructions, and an Owner’s Manual. Rolling door systems are warrantied against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from date of purchase.
