Rolling Hangar Door System for Private Sky Aviation - ExteriorProject Specs:

  • (1) 158′ x 28′ Sliding Hangar Door System
  • (2) Hercul-Eze Hangar Door Operators

The 40,000 sq. ft. Private Sky aircraft hangar was completed in March 2002 at a cost of $3 million. Among its various features is a 158’ x 28’, bi-parting sliding hangar door by Well-Bilt Industries. The door has eight 20’ x 28’ leaves and is powered by a pair of Well-Bilt’s patented In-TheDoor  hangar door operators. With a 10” ship and car channel, 10” structural channels, 4” x 2” reinforcement tubing, telescopic top guide assemblies and 12”-diameter steel wheels, the door system is designed to exceed Florida’s 120 mph wind load requirements, and accommodate a future tail door. Kenneth Mayer of Greensboro, NC, designed the hangar. Bethlehem Construction Corp., Fort Myers, was the contractor. Rigid Building Systems, Houston, TX, manufactured the pre engineered metal building hangar.

It is easy to see why Well Bilt was chosen for the sliding hangar door and hangar door operators, given their geographic location to the project and knowledge and long experiance designing hangar doors to meet the wind load and designs required in Florida as well as high wind zones.  When you need inexpensive solutions to a complex world of aircaft hangar design, call on the experts at Well Bilt Doors.
