The Short Answer

What Is A HydraTilt Hydraulic Door?

A HydraTilt hydraulic door is a self-supporting, one-piece panel that tilts up and out on twin hydraulic ram cylinders, pivoting at the mid-point of the door system. Because it's one rigid panel, it opens with few moving parts, seals tightly against the weather with EPDM stripping, and its tilt-up canopy style clears extra room in front of the hangar ramp. Well Bilt builds HydraTilt doors to order, up to 60' wide and 18' tall, custom designed to fit each application.

Where They Win

How They Operate

Powered by Twin Hydraulic Ram Cylinders

Every HydraTilt door is actuated by twin hydraulic ram cylinders working in sequence, powered by electric motors ranging from 120V to 460V in single or three-phase configurations, matched to your door size.

Doors are controlled by constant-pressure push buttons, operated remotely or from a mounted interior panel. Release the button and the door stops in place. Pumps, reservoirs, and actuators are sized specifically for each project with built-in safety margins.

Technical specifications

All the detail you expect, organized and scannable.

Door panels are fabricated from tubing and standard structural shapes such as “C”s and “Z”s, CNC drilled and shop test-fit before shipping. Door frames use a minimum ¼” channel, with field splices made using a socket system for proper fit. The one-piece door is engineered to operate within the wind pressures of its geographic region and functions between -30°F and 140°F without buckling or warping.

An upward-tilting door that pivots on side-mounted hydraulic cylinders at the mid-point of the panel. Actuated by twin hydraulic ram cylinders working in sequence, powered by electric motors from 120V to 460V in single or three-phase configurations. Controlled by constant-pressure push buttons, operated remotely or from a mounted interior panel. Release the button and the door stops in place.

Pumps, actuators, valves, reservoirs, and rams are sized with a built-in safety factor. Pumps are rated for a duty cycle no less than 200% of the required run time, reservoirs handle 125% of the fluid required to fully extend the rams, and actuators are matched to system requirements for remote operation.

The door pivots on side-mounted hydraulic cylinders at its mid-point rather than a top hinge. Integral tracks in the door frame and columns guide permanently mounted rollers at the top of the door. Each panel is secured to the finished floor with a cold roll drop pin. Placement and quantity vary by door size.

EPDM weather stripping with cloth insertion is attached on 12″ centers along the bottom and vertical edges and is easily replaceable. Welded portions of the door meet AWS D1.1 structural welding code. Control panels are enclosed in watertight NEMA 4 boxes with interlocking limit switches. Engineering certificates are held for all 50 states and the Caribbean, and doors carry up to a 5-year warranty.

Standard sizes ship on fast delivery timelines; custom sizes are built to order. Well Bilt’s support team assists throughout installation.
