For Project 24030 – General Steel Buildings, our team partnered on a custom installation for the Chicago Yacht Club, delivering a large-scale rolling door system engineered for reliability, ease of operation, and long-term performance.
The project featured an 80-foot-wide by 30-foot-tall one-way rolling door designed to provide a clear opening while maximizing usable interior space. The door was configured as a five-panel system, allowing the panels to stack efficiently to one side of the opening while maintaining smooth, controlled movement throughout the operating cycle.
To power the system, the door was equipped with two Hercul-Eze 250 Series operators utilizing our walk-with operator configuration. Unlike traditional drive arrangements where the operator remains stationary, walk-with operators travel alongside the moving door panels. This design provides consistent drive engagement throughout the opening and closing cycle, helping maintain smooth operation across the full width of the system.
For large openings such as this, operator selection and system design are critical. The combination of the five-panel one-way configuration and dual 250 Series operators creates a balanced system capable of handling daily operational demands while minimizing strain on door components. The result is a door that moves efficiently, operates reliably, and is built to provide years of dependable service.
